James McCarthy should be fit for the rest of the season according to Everton manager Roberto Martinez.
The Irish international has missed recent games due to a hamstring injury and today Martinez dismissed reports that the injury had got worse adding he will be in the squad for Saturdays Merseyside derby with Liverpool.
Martinez explained the nature of McCarthys issue, saying: "He's a sprinter that plays in midfield so his tissues need to be well looked after. But you get those sort of situations and at times you pick up an injury that gives you a little bit of a problem to get rid of. Now I expect James to be clear and fully fit for the rest of the season."
