Milan's move for Balotelli is causing head-scratching ... but not just for the usual reasons

Juventus have dominated Italian football's domestic league for the last few years and announced themselves as viable Champions League contenders as they reached last season's final.

But this summer has seen them lose key players like Arturo Vidal, Andrea Pirlo and Carlos Tevez for different reasons, although they have signed talents like Mario Mandzukic and the promising Paulo Dybala.

It's a transition year for Juve as they adapt to the changes according to ESPN and BT Sports Serie A expert James Horncastle but is there any threat of a decline for Italian football's Old Lady?

Horncastle joined us on Off The Ball in the wake of Juve's opening league defeat to Udinese at the weekend and said that "if they don't win it this year, they are well set to win it for many years to come", while he also feels Paul Pogba getting the No 10 shirt is significant when it comes to his future at the club.

While Juve's domestic competitors are not wholly convincing, Horncastle added that: "I do think this will be the closest and the most unpredictable season we've seen for a long time".

Plus, he also gave his take on AC Milan's loan move for Mario Balotelli which is "head scratching" for reasons other than the obvious ones related to his temperament which you can hear in the interview with Horncastle on the Football Show podcast:
