Mohamed Salah crowned 2017 African Footballer of the Year

Liverpool's man-of-the-moment Mohamed Salah has been named the 2017 African Footballer of the Year, pipping his Reds team-mate Sadio Mane.

The Egypt international won the gong with a record number of votes following a superb year with country and two clubs.

He's the Premier League's top scorer with 13 goals after just 16 top-flight matches with the Merseysiders (total tally 19 in 24), continuing on an incredible calendar year in which he scored 7 goals and assisted 8 playing for Roma as they finished second in Serie A.

He was part of the Egyptian side that finished runners up in the Africa Cup of Nations and to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

The 25-year-old had a hand in all 7 of the Pharaohs's goals, assisting 2 and scoring 5, which took them to the big one in Russia next summer.

There was five nominees in total including future Liverpool man Naby Keita of RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Chelsea man Victor Moses.
