Murdo MacLeod: It's a disgrace for Celtic to try to pin something on Meekings

Former Celtic midfielder Murdo MacLeod believes the club are wrong to have written a letter of complaint to the Scottish Football Association over a controversial decision.

The Hoops were knocked out of the Scottish Cup semis by Inverness Caldenonian Thistle. But the referee failed to spot that Inverness player Josh Meekings had handled a goal-bound shot in the 3-2 win.

However, the player has been retrospectively banned, although Inverness will appeal the decision.

"The game's finished for us. It's happened. Celtic's got to be bigger than that," MacLeod told Off The Ball

"Celtic putting out the letter to the SFA, everyone knows Celtic are not happy about it. You don't need a letter in to complain about referees. You were talking about Josh Meekings and I think it's a disgrace that they're to pin something on him. It's the referees that should be punished, not the Inverness Caley player."
