Nate Diaz: Conor McGregor could strike early against Floyd Mayweather

Former Conor McGregor foe Nate Diaz gives the Irishman a slim chance of beating Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match but thinks the Dubliner needs to strike early if he is to beat the undefeated American.

Speaking on CSN Fights about the possibility of a bout between the pair, Diaz said: "I think it's a big publicity stunt but my take on a boxing match between the two: I think McGregor's got a good chance to make something happen in two or three rounds.

"I think if anything two or three rounds but I think he has got an amateur style where he's only got the good movement, good punches for six/eight minutes and I think that's too amateur for Mayweather.

"I'm just saying he's got a puncher's chance if anything. But as far as skill and technique, he's got an amateur style. Anybody can be good for nine, six, seven minutes and they all have that punchers chance but this guy [Mayweather] is ready to go round after round and he's a hard person to get hold of. I think it'll be a rough one but who knows?" he added.

Talk of a bout between McGregor and Mayweather continues to circulate as neither are scheduled to fight anybody as of yet. Mayweather is currently retired and the Irishman is awaiting the birth of his first child.

Diaz and McGregor have fought twice with their series tied at 1-1 and the pair will likely meet in a rubber match towards the end of 2017 or the start of 2018.
