'Nobody out there believes this is going to be Floyd Mayweather's final fight'

With the September 12th fight potentially being his final bout and victory meaning he would equal Rocky Marciano's 49-0 record, Floyd Mayweather's choice of opponent is hardly sending pulses racing.

The undefeated American has gone for fellow welterweight Andre Berto (31) rather than more challenging opponents and for Sports Illustrated Senior writer Chris Mannix it is a major disappointment.

He told Off The Ball: "I think Mayweather had as many as five or six options that would have been considerably better than Andre Berto, but this is a name that he floated a month ago. In fact, when he floated it, most of us thought it was a joke because Andre Berto was so woefully unqualified," he said.

"But Mayweather marches to the beat of his own drum and he's decided that once again, he's going to disappoint the boxing public with an inferior fight."

And Mannix also explained that Marciano's 49-0 record is "like the fakest record ever" and added that "nobody out there believes this is going to be Floyd Mayweather's final fight" and that he will probably fight again in May 2016 - with the possibility that he could face Manny Pacquiao once more.
