Tipperary's star centre-forward hurler Noel Mcgrath expects his side to “come back and be better next year” after a disappointing championship campaign.
Having failed to win a single round-robin fixture in Munster, Tipperary made their earliest departure from the championship since 1998.
Draws against Cork and a depleted Waterford were followed by defeats away to Limerick and a first championship loss to Clare in Semple Stadium in 90 years.
McGrath opened up to Maire Treasa Ni Cheallaigh about the Premier’s post-mortem following their disappointing championship campaign.
“Its disappointing to be gone so early and you'd be jealous of the other teams that are still playing in the the games cause at the end of the day that's what you train for you want to be involved in all them games," McGrath said.
“I suppose every player looks back at himself and how he performed and everybody will probably think of things that they probably could have done better and might have helped them perform on a given day.
“It's a game of such small little inches and so many teams are well able to compete at a high level as we've seen over the last few weekends with the standard of games being very very high.
“Everybody wants to improve and do better and obviously this year was disappointing for Tipp, so we need to improve and hopefully come back and be better again next year.
“You'd love to be looking forward to an All-Ireland semi-final in the next few weeks or an All-Ireland final. Hopefully we'll get back at it next year and things might look up for us.”
