Nothing to split sides in breathtaking final

And we go back again. Again. You could be forgiven for wondering if the first and final Sundays in September are now the most important in the hurling year as for the third year in a row the All-Ireland final has gone to a replay.

Kilkenny were ahead for most of the second half but three late points from Tipperary – two from John O’Dwyer and one from Jason Forde – clawed the game back for Eamon O’Shea’s side. IT could even have been a win but O’Dwyer’s stoppage time free went to hawkeye and was shown to have gone just wide.

Richie Power scored two of Kilkenny’s goals while keeper Eoin Murphy stopped two Tipperary penalties. TJ Reid scored the third goal for Brian Cody’s team, and it capped an exceptional performance from the Ballyhale man.

The replay is set for September 27th at 5pm.
