GALLERY: Olive Loughnane finally gets her World Championship gold medal seven years on

Olive Loughnane has received her 2009 World Championship gold medal at a ceremony in Amsterdam.

The retired Irish athlete had won silver in Berlin seven years ago in the 20 kilometre walk but the gold medal recipient on that day, Russia's Olga Kaniskina was later demoted, with Loughnane retrospectively awarded the winning medal.

She is now Ireland's fourth ever World Champion after Eamonn Coghlan, Sonia O'Sullivan and Rob Heffernan.

Seven years on from 2009, she finally received the gold in a formal presentation attended by IAAF president Seb Coe at the European Athletics Championships which are taking place in Amsterdam.

Earlier today she spoke to Newstalk Lunchtime's Jonathan Healy and said that she was "not angry" with Kaniskina.
