PREVIEW: From Zlatan in the thick of a Scandinavian derby to historic Hungary's chance to end a drought

Regardless of how optimistic or pessimistic we are about Ireland's chances in the Euro 2016 playoff against Bosnia, we'll all have our eyes glued to tomorrow night's first leg in Zenica.

But there are other games to keep an eye on in your peripheral vision as the final teams to qualify for the tournament shuffle into place.

Norway v Hungary

It all kicks off tonight as Norway and Hungary go head-to-head in their first leg in Oslo where English referee Mark Clattenburg is officiating.

Norway do not have as many Premier League players as they did in the '90s and early 2000s when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Tore Andre Flo, Henning Berg and co stalked across the pitches of the top flight.

But they do have 16-year-old wonderkid Martin Ødegaard, who admittedly is not having a great time of it at Real Madrid at present.

But there are reasons to shout for Hungary. Arguably the greatest international team in the world during the 1950s when they could call upon legends like Ferenc Puskas, Sandor Kocsis and Nandor Hidegkuti, the country has fallen on hard times when it comes to football with their last major tournament appearance at World Cup '86. Their last European Championship showing goes even further back to 1972.

Ex-West Brom midfielder Zoltan Gera, current Liverpool No 2 keeper Adam Bogdan and former Watford and Ipswich forward Tamas Priskin are their most recognisable players in this part of the world.

Sweden v Denmark

This fixture probably sums up whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make one more major tournament appearance. The mercurial Paris Saint-Germain forward was absent at the last World Cup as a playoff showdown saw Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo pip them to a spot in Brazil.

But it would be great to see a 34-year-old Ibrahimovic make what is likely to be an international swansong on the French soil he has been treading at club level.

They host Scandinavian rivals Denmark in the first leg on Saturday in Solna and Ibrahimovic carries most of the burden in a team which also includes Norwich City full-back Martin Olsson and Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson.

Ibrahimovic has 59 international goals and netted eight of Sweden's 15 goals in their qualifying group.

On the opposite side, Spurs' Christian Eriksen will be hoping to inspire his nation to Euro 2016, along with experienced names like ex-Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger and former Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner who remains a figure of fun for some even since he departed the Premier League.

Ukraine v Slovenia

Also on Saturday night, Ukraine will be looking for revenge against the side who defeated them in the playoffs for Euro 2000.

Andriy Yarmolenko (Dynamo Kyiv) and Yevhen Konoplyanka (Sevilla) are the two main talents in the Ukraine squad as the country which co-hosted the last Euros look to bring some positivity in the midst of a difficult and well-documented political crisis.

Meanwhile, Slovenia and their 2 million population will hope to keep punching above their weights with a squad packed with seven Serie A-based talents including Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
