Former Ireland defender Paddy Mulligan believes Brendan Rodgers is quickly approaching the end of his tenure at Liverpool after a limp defeat to Manchester United on Saturday evening.
Ex-Chelsea and Crystal Palace man, Paddy, believes the club is in need of structure as Rodgers fails to find solutions since the departure of Luis Suarez last summer.
"Mourinho is the man to take over Liverpool football club. He was the man that Man United should have gone for. He's the man and there could be soundings there," he said, adding Mourinho's habit of moving clubs after three seasons means he could be on the market again soon.
"He would put a structure on no matter what players are there at Liverpool. He would have a system for these players and have players in their comfort zones. You can't play Firmino wide on the right and Ings wide on the left and expect them to keep tracking back. They spent more time running back towards their own goal [against Man United]."
