Paddy Mulligan: Why N'Golo Kante would not be Arsenal's "missing piece"

As Leicester City enjoy the afterglow of Premier League glory, attention has been turning to keeping their key men at the club.

One of the rumours doing the rounds is that midfield dynamo N'Golo Kante has set his sights on a move to Arsenal.

But ex-Ireland, Chelsea and Crystal Palace defender Paddy Mulligan believes leaving Leicester would be a mistake on the France international's

"Who's to say that Arsenal are going to better next season than they were this season? Or better than Leicester? They may very well not be," Paddy said on this week's Rewind podcast.

"If I was the Leicester, I'd be saying 'you lads stay here, give us one more season or two more seasons and we'll take it from there' because if they go to a bigger club, they won't be playing every game like they did at Leicester City. They'll be in and out of a squad rotation system and I guarantee you if these players want to play every week, they won't be happy with that and therefore their form is going to dip. The advice I would give them would be stay at Leicester City."

As for how Kante would slot into Arsenal's midfield if a transfer does occur, Paddy has his doubts about how it would work out for the player.

"Would Arsenal be ideal? I don't think he's the missing piece. I think there's quite a few missing pieces at Arsenal. Would Arsenal be the fit for Kante? I don't believe that Arsenal would be the fit for Kante," he said, pointing out that numerous weaknesses exist across the team from the back-four to the forward-line.

Paddy also looked ahead to the FA Cup final involving his former club Palace, as well as the reasons behind Tottenham's implosion and how many Manchester City players will still be at the club next season. Listen in via the podcast player.
