Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says Stevan Jovetic is still in his plans despite being cut from their Champions League squad.
New signing Wilfried Bony has been picked in his place having moved from Swansea last month.
City have a smaller squad than other teams in the competition due to breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations, and Pellegrini still expects Jovetic to feature in the Premier League.
"I don't think one thing has relation or link to the other thing," the Chilean said of his Montenegrin striker.
"I think it's very important for Stefan to try to play now until the end of the season, to play as much games as he can, to try ann not to be injured [and] try to have a high performance every time he plays."
