Peter Wright comfortably advances at the World Darts Championship

Peter Wright, the most colourful player in darts, comfortably advanced to the second round of the PDC World Championships, while scoring first first 100+ average of the tournament.

'Snakebite', who is the tournament's third seed, was a comfortable 3-0 winner over Jerry Hendriks from The Netherlands. The Dutch player won a Preliminary Match earlier in the night to book his place against Wright.

The Scottish player said he "felt great" after the win. He only conceded two legs in the match, in the most impressive performance of the tournament so far.

Earlier in the night, the former World Champion Steve Beaton rolled back the years to advance to the second round. He defeated South Africa's Devon Peterson 3-1.

As was the case in the opening night, one of the lower seeded players was eliminated. In an all-Welsh battle Jonny Clayton defeated Gerwyn Price 3-1 in the surprise of the tournament so far.

Saturday sees the first double session of the tournament.  Terry Jenkins and Benito van de Pas are the headline names in the afternoon session, before the tournament favourite Michael van Gerwen meets either Ross Snook or Kim Viljanen in the evening.
