Premier League roundup: Liverpool can only draw with Norwich, while Martial strikes again for United

Tottenham 1-0 Crystal Palace

Another London derby today, but a slightly lower profile one, as Tottenham were able to get a win against Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace side.

Son Heung-min continued to show Spurs fans that he was well worth his transfer fee, and after bagging a couple of goals in the Europa League during the week, he was once again on target to give his side another three points here.

Liverpool 1-1 Norwich

Another result that won't help to relieve the pressure on Brendan Rodgers today at Anfield as Liverpool could only draw with Norwich in a game that was exclusively live on Off the Ball.

The return of Daniel Sturridge would have been a welcome sight for the manager, but it was second half substitute Danny Ings who got the goal for Liverpool, getting his first Premier League goal for the club after just three minutes on the pitch, in front of the Kop end.

Their lead didn't last very long however, as Russell Martin scored his third goal of the season after Mignolet failed to clear a corner far enough with a punch. The ball was sent back in and the Norwich captain made no mistake at the second time of asking.

As the stats showed, there was no shortage of chances for the home side, but their accuracy leaves something to be desired, as they failed to capitalise on the space being afforded to them by the Canaries.

Some good results at the start of the season perhaps papered over the weaknesses in the team and the lucky nature of their wins, but there's no doubting that the Anfield side need to make some changes over the coming weeks if they want to improve, despite showing some flashes in the second half.

Southampton 2-3 Manchester United

When he signed from Monaco, Martial said that he wouldn't let the price tag affect him, and judging by his performances so far he's doing exactly that. He followed up his fantastic goal against Liverpool last week with a brace today, showcasing that he's cool and composed in the box, something that can't be learned.

His two goals proved to be vital as well, as Southampton were not going to take a defeat lying down. The Saints were on top for long periods in the game, taking the lead through Pelle in the 13th minute, and there was a stroke of fortune in the fact that Mata appeared to be offside in the run up to Martial's equalising goal. However, the young Frenchman certainly gives Van Gaal's side the type of pace in attack that they have been lacking to date this season, and finished with aplomb.

He added a second just after the start of the second half, with Mata extending their lead to 3-1 about 20 minutes later. However, Pelle struck again to give the home side hope, and they once again began to press their guests, who had looked content to pass the ball about until the final whistle.

Southampton were denied another goal by several excellent De Gea saves too, including late in the game when he parried a shot from Wanyama, and made an incredible save from Mane on the resulting corner.
