Rangers boss forced to field Newcastle loanees

Rangers caretaker manager Kenny McDowall has been told that he must play the five Newcastle loan players added to his squad on transfer deadline day.

The Ibrox boss revealed that unless they are unfit he will have to name Haris Vuckic, Remie Streete, Gael Bigirimana, Kevin Mbabu and Shane Ferguson in his starting lineup.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is a shareholder at Rangers, and his associate Derek Llambias is the club's chief executive.

"I will carry out the instructions that they give me and do my best. I have a job to do and I am happy to do it. The boys have come up to play and they will play. That's just how it is," said McDowall, who is serving a 12-month notice period after handing in his resignation.
