Report: Neil Seery to be given a New York retirement fight

Neil Seery's retirement nightmare may finally get a dream ending.

The Dublin fighter had planned to bow out of competitive mixed martial arts after his fight with Ian McCall in Belfast on November 19th. The day before the fight, McCall had to pull out due to illness as a result of a strenuous weight cut.

Seery's immediate future remained unknown after the fight. While losing the chance to bow out on front of his home fans, a fight in London on March 18th seemed to be his plan B.

Now according to reports in America, Seery will fight in New York at UFC 208. The rescheduled fight with McCall will take place in Brooklyn. The UFC women's featherweight title fight between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie.

ESPN's Brett Okamoto broke the news of the potential Seery fight, but it has yet to be confirmed by the UFC, Seery or McCall.

A New York bout would be a fitting way for Seery to end a stellar career. The former Cage Warriors champion has only fought in America on one previous occasion. Last year he lost to Louis Smolka, at UFC 189 in Las Vegas.
