Robbie Keane remains in the top ten earners in MLS

One of the more fascinating traits of Major League Soccer is their transparency when it comes it players wages. The League released their player salaries yesterday.

Robbie Keane remains in the top ten earners in the league with a base salary of $4.5million (€4million approx). The Irish captain is now only the second highest earner at LA Galaxy since the arrival of Steven Gerrard.

Since moving to the Colorado Rapids as a Designated Player, Kevin Doyle is the teams highest earning player. The Wexford native is the only player in the team to earn more than $1million and he pocketed a base salary of $1.1million since joining the Denver side from Wolves.

While Sean St. Ledger's international career seems to have stagnated, the centre half is still among the middle band of earners in Colorado. His lack of a Designated Player tag, compared to Doyle means earned $124,992.

Brazilian superstar Kaka is the best payed player in the league earning $6.6million. Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard are both in the top five earners since their move from the Premier League with both earning at least $6million.

The full list of player wages can be seen here.
