Dundalk have stretched their lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

The Lilywhites have beaten 10-man St Patrick's Athletic 2-0 at Richmond Park.

Daryl Horgan scored both the goals for the defending champions, either side of a red card shown to Saints defender Kenny Browne.

The win sends Dundalk six points clear at the top of the table, with second-placed Cork City and third-placed Shamrock Rovers playing out a scoreless draw tonight at Turners Cross.

It also finished 0-0 at Dalymount Park, where Bohemians and Bray Wanderers shared the points.

Derry City and Sligo Rovers played out a 1-1 draw at the Brandywell, while Drogheda United were 2-0 winners over Galway United thanks to goes from Lee Duffy and Sean Thornton.

In the First Division, the game between the Wexford Youths and Athlone Town had to be abandoned at Ferrycarrig Park after the generator caught fire, with Wexford leading 2-0 at the time. The FAI have confirmed that the match will be rescheduled to a later date.

Shelbourne beat Waterford United 1-0 at Tolka Park, while the matches between Cabinteely and Cobh Ramblers, and Finn Harps versus UCD finished 2-2 apiece, with Finn Harps increasing their lead at the top of the table.
