Michael Drennan scored twice for Rovers, to cancel out goals from David McMillan and Ronan Finn.
Cork City stay second after first half goals from Billy Dennehy and Kieran Djilali helped the Leesiders to a 2-1 win at Drogheda United, with Lloyd Buckley finding the net for the Louth men.
St Patrick's Athletic got the better of the Dublin derby at Dalymount Park, with Ciarán Kilduff's first half strike enough to see off Bohemians.
Derry City and Bray Wanderers drew a blank at the Brandywell.
Sligo Rovers picked up another point as they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Longford Town.
Kevin O'Connor gave Town the lead, before the Bit 'o Red equalised before half-time thanks to David Cawley.
Meanwhile, Galway United got the better of the battle of the bottom clubs with a 3-2 win at home to Limerick.
In the First Division, Athlone Town failed to put real pressure on leaders Finn Harps, drawing 2-2 with Cabinteely United.
UCD were 3-0 winners at home to Waterford United.
