There was no way anything that happened today could top Japan's historic victory over South Africa yesterday.
However, we will recap what did happen as Samoa, Wales and New Zealand got their World Cups off to successful starts.
There were three games today with Samoa and USA playing before Wales and Uruguay and that was topped off with a close affair between New Zealand and Argentina.
Samoa 25-16 USA
Samoa and USA got the day off to a competitive start at Brighton Community Stadium in Brighton.
Samoa got off to an 11-3 lead before Chris Wyles scored a USA try to bring them within three of their opponents.
Chris Baumann scored a 74th minute try to pull USA to within nine but a missed conversion meant Samoa had some breathing room with six minutes remaining. It ended 25-16 as Samoa go to the top of Pool B, ahead of Japan on point difference.
Wales 54-9 Uruguay
Wales annhiliated uruguay as tries from Justin Tipuric, Gareth Davies (2), Samson Lee, Hallam Amos, Cory Allen (3) were enough to see them well and truly over the line.
Uruguay got off to the better start, with two pentlaies before Wales got going. It was plain sailing from that point, however, and Wales now sit atop Pool A with England behind them on point difference only.
Australia are yet to play and such a heavy victory could influence the outcome of the group standings in such a competitive group.
New Zealand 26-16 Argentina
The All Blacks defeated Argentina in front of 89,019 fans at Wembley Stadium on Sunday Evening.
Dan Carter had his kicking boots with him as he kicked four penalties and two conversions to go with tries from Aaron Smith, Sam Cane.
Argentina lead at halg time with a try from Guido Petti Pagadizabal but Carter's four penalties were kicked in the first half to keep the deficit to a minimum.
Tries from Aaron Smith and Sam Cane in the second half were the perfect remedy for a difficult Argentina side.
There is no action until Wesdnesday as the heroic Japan side take on Scotland, Australia get their campaign started against Fiji and France play Romania.
