Scott Evans comfortably advances to the knockout stages in Baku

One of Ireland's best medal hopes at the European Games, has moved into the last 16 of the Men's badminton tournament.

Scott Evans topped Group A this morning. He defeated Hungary's Gergely Krausz 21-16, 21-7. Evans, who went into the tournament as top seed eased through the group stages, with three wins from three.

The Men's doubles team of Sam and Joshua Magee have reached the quarter finals. They defeated the Czech duo of Pavel Florian and Ondrej Kopriva 21-16, 21-7 to reach the last eight.

In the Women's doubles, Rachael Darragh and Sara Boyle were unable to win their final match of the tournament. They had already lost both of their previous group games and lost this morning to Russian opposition 21-9, 21-9.

Later today, Chloe Magee plays her final group game, knowing she needs to win to hopefully reach the last 16. She faces Belgium's Lianne Tan.
