Sergio Ramos definitively told that he will not be sold by Real Madrid

The Real Madrid star had been the subject of much speculation, but it seems that he has been told that he will not be moving this summer.

Ramos has been unsettled at the club in recent months as a result of a public falling out with club president Florentino Pérez for a number of reasons. Ramos, recently named the club captain and one of the biggest figures in Spanish football, had asked for a large wage increase to keep him on par with the highest earners at the club, such as Iker Casillas (before he moved to Porto), Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. Furthermore, he very publicly criticised Jose Mourinho during his time as manager there, and defended Carlo Ancelotti after he was sacked by Pérez, all of which has made the process of trying to get Ramos to sign an extension to his current deal very difficult indeed.

During a meeting on the side's preseason tour in China this weekend, it is believed that Ramos and his agent (his brother René) have been told that Madrid will not consider selling Ramos at any price, and a move is totally out of the question.

The Guardian report that the meeting ran on for several hours and into Sunday night, and was attended by both Ramos and his agent, as well as Pérez and José Ángel Sánchez, Madrid’s chief executive.

Two formal bids from Manchester United have been made for Ramos, but with two years left on his deal at the moment, there is unlikely to be much more that Ramos can do. Sid Lowe reports that if he publicly declares that he wants to leave, it will "just make the player’s relationship with the supporters difficult", as Madrid will not allow their hand to be forced in this regard.
