Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has expressed his surprise at Shane Long's involvement in Ireland's Euro 2016 play-off win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday.
The striker played nearly the full second-half of the game as Ireland secured their place at next year's Championships, despite being an injury doubt going into the play-off tie.
Koeman admits that Long's introduction came as a bit of a shock to him.
"I was very surprised that he was playing 40 minutes. Of course, the player didn't train for five or six weeks. He had only one training session on the Sunday," he said.
Long sustained the injury in last month's qualifier loss to Poland and missed the first leg against Bosnia in Zenica.
