Sinead O'Carroll: "If Thomond can continually raise it's game; that's quite a scary prospect."

Munster came from behind to sneak past Toulon in yesterday's Champions Cup quarter-final at Thomond Park.

The Limerick based side came out on top by a single point after a hard fought 20-19 victory over the French side in front of a boisterous home crowd.

Speaking on OTB's Sunday Paper Review Sinead O'Carroll says the 'Thomond effect' has a massive influence on the side's performances in big games played in the venue.

O'Carrol says Munster coach Van Grann's coaching during the week was also instrumental to getting a performance from his team.

"I think there was a bit of purposefulness from Van Grann. Being like: 'You know; I've heard this Munster think works. I've felt it and now I'm really going to buy into it, and see if everyone follows me, and will it make a difference, will it make that one point difference.'

Van Grann used a number of motivational lines in the build up to his side's victory yesterday but she feels it was the atmosphere that ultimately got the province over the line.

There atmosphere in Thomond was exceptionally loud yesterday. O'Carroll says she spoke with people who said the atmosphere was the best they'd ever expierenced in the province's backyard.

"I spoke with people who were there yesterday, and they said they'd never felt Thomond like that before. So like, if Thomond can continually raise it's game; that's quite a scary prospect."
