Opinion: Spurs should sell Kyle Walker if he wants out

Tottenham Hotspur should sell Kyle Walker if he is not willing to follow Maurico Pochettino's instructions.

Numerous reports in England suggest the Spurs' full back has fallen out of favour with the Argentine and has had his head turned by the possibility of higher wages elsewhere.

The England international is currently on a salary of roughly £70,000 per week.

Walker has been rotated this season frequently with Kieran Trippier as the north London side have embarked on a relatively successful league campaign.

Spurs are currently on a nine-match winning-streak in the league, which culminated with last Sunday's 2-0 win over arch-rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane.

Trippier started the match with Walker coming on in the dying minutes as Spurs confirmed they will finish ahead of Arsenal for the first time in two decades. The win also left them hot on the heels of leaders Chelsea with four games remaining this season.

Pochettino has been ruthless in the past with players which didn't embrace his methods - just ask Andros Townsend.

Spurs would likely demand a sizeable fee for Walker given his age, international status and length remaining on his contract. Both Manchester clubs desperately require defensive reinforcements and have the money Tottenham would be asking for.

Spurs already have Trippier in their ranks and would most likely look for another low-key signing to cover Walker's absence while strengthening elsewhere.

For now though, their focus should solely be on Friday night's match with West Ham and narrowing the gap to Chelsea to a single point.
