Suarez to demand Summer move to Spain

Luis Suarez will demand a move to Spain this summer, with Real Madrid and Barcelona ready to meet the striker’s €85 million release clause. The Sunday Times reports that both clubs have approached the player.

This morning’s reports identify the roots of Suarez’s desire for a move to Spain as a combination of several factors.

The striker is reportedly still upset over the failure of Liverpool’s American owners to honour a contractual promise that he could leave Anfield in the summer of 2013 if the club did not qualify for the Champions League; he was upset that Brendan Rodgers said Liverpool did not miss their star striker while Suarez was banned for the opening 5 games of this season; and he has long held a desire to play for one of Spain’s big two clubs.

Barcelona are believed to have the edge in the race to sign Suarez, because his wife’s family live in the Catalan city. Should Suarez sign for Barca he would join Lionel Messi and Neymar in the Barcelona front three.
