Carl Frampton chiselled his name into the annals of Irish boxing history last night with a win over Leo Santa Cruz to claim the WBA super featherweight title and become Ireland's second two-weight world champion.
He edged the win by majority decision but took the judges' preference over multiple rounds, taunting the Mexican with his dynamic footwork and massive hooks.
After the fight Frampton said he wants to continue pursuing big fights as his gradually drifts into the winter of his career, and judging by the reaction to his win among those in the fighting fraternity, Frampton could well be looking towards more big wins before the end.
