Kilkenny advance to the All Ireland Hurling Final as they overcame a stern Waterford challenge at Croke Park today beating their opponents by 1-21 to 0-18.
The game saw just one goal, which came courtesy of TJ Reid in the first half. It is Kilkenny's ninth final appearance in ten years.
They play either Galway or Tipperary in the final, who will face off next weekend in the other semi-final.
SOCCER
Arsenal fell to West Ham United at home in their opening game of the season. Goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate in either half ensured Wenger would leave the opening weekend of the season empty handed.
Shane Long salvaged Ronald Koeman a point with a 79th minute header that would leave the game at 2-2, which is how the game would finish. Graziano Pelle had opened the scoring before a Papiss Cisse leveller followed by a debut Giorgino Wijnaldum goal would turn the game on it’s head before substitute Long sprung into action.
It would take an 85th minute screamer from Philippe Coutinho to break the deadlock between Stoke and Liverpool. The game, which was largely uneventful until the strike, was crying out for a piece of brilliance and Coutinho provided it with a 30 yard rocket to Jack Butland's net.

Dean Gardiner was beaten in the European Elite Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria today.
Joe Ward defeated Russia's Idris Shakhmanov in the Round of 32 to go onto the Tuesday evening's Round of 16 against Georgia's Nikoloz Sekhniashvili.
RACING
There was success for Aidan O'Brien at the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh today, his colt Air Force Blue stormed to victory to deliver the title to O'Brien for the 14th time in 18 years.
