The Final Whistle: Mayo and Tyrone progress to All-Ireland football semi-finals

GAA

Tyrone and Mayo progress to the All-Ireland football semi-final with convincing wins over Monaghan and Donegal respectively.

In the early game, Tyrone came out on top over Monaghan in a game which saw three red cards in the closing stages.

Frustration quickly turned to aggression and both sides incurred dismissals, two of which were from the losing side.

Elsewhere, two goals courtesy of Aidan O’Shea and Lee Keegan helped the Connacht side cruise into the semi-final at the expense of Donegal.

The GAA doesn’t stop there as we gear up for Kilkenny v Waterford tomorrow in the hurling semi-final.

RUGBY

Ireland cruised through their World Cup warm-up match against Wales this afternoon.

Joe Schmidt’s side ran out 14-point winners but the damage could have been a lot worse had it not been thanks to a couple of late tries.

Keith Earls, Darren Cave and Felix Jones all give Schmidt a tactical headache going into his World Cup preparation.
