Sepp Blatter's resignation as Fifa president today caught the football world off guard. Having just won re-election for a fifth term on Friday it was utterly unexpected that the man who has for so long seemed the Teflon administrator would finally say his goodbyes.
The reaction online was a mix of shock, delight and some party-killing moments of sense that threw cold water on the excitement by pointing out that the end of Sepp Blatter will not necessarily mean an end to the corruption of Fifa.
Blatter has resigned. Can't quite believe it. FIFA always appeared to be such a fine upstanding organisation.

#Blatter’s departure all well & good, but I’d still like to know what is being done to stop migrant workers dying on Qatari building sites.

Please show some respect for Sepp Blatter as he resigns and don't RT this photo, he would hate that. pic.twitter.com/yV4gtOCfRK

If Carlsberg did weeks of football, Blatter going followed by Messi and Pirlo contesting the Champions League final would take some beating.
