'The group we have are used to winning - which is probably unusual for Tipperary in a footballing sense'

Tomorrow, Tipperary and Dublin will go head-to-head in the Eirgrid U21 All-Ireland football semi-finals.

Dublin have got good pedigree in the tournament, having won it as recently as last year and 2012.

But Tipp boss Tommy Toomey feels the cohesion and winning mentality of his own team deserves plenty of recognition.

Speaking to Off The Ball, he said: "The group of players that we have in Tipperary, we've been fairly lucky they've come through from U14, U15, U16 playing against Cork and Kerry in a lot of their development time and having some success there, went through minor and won an All-Ireland which happened to be against Dublin. They won the Munster championship the year after as well and Mayo beat us in the quarter-final and they didn't really perform that day. A number of them were dual players and they went on that year to win the All-Ireland minor hurling title. So the group of players we have are used to winning which is probably unusual for Tipperary players in a football sense."

Toomey also said the forward had been rebuilt and also believes the bench will be crucial vis a vis Dublin.

Against a Dublin packed with big names and a counter-attacking threat, Toomey admitted some concerns about his defence, given the attacking nature of his team.

"The defensive side of our game sometimes we struggle with it. Cork scored three goals against us. If we're that open against Dublin, we will suffer," he said.
