'There was a lot of dead fish and you are kind of wondering what's killing the fish?'

As Rio de Janeiro prepares to host the Olympics this time next year, there are major concerns - the biggest one being the quality of water.

Scientists have reported that some areas which will be used for water sport events have bacteria and virus levels roughly comparable to raw sewage.

Irish sailor Annalise Murphy is one of our medal hopes at the Rio Olympics and tonight on Off The Ball she gave her take on the conditions, having done some training there in preparation for next year.

"It is a bit of a talking point between everyone - 'oh, did you see the water today?'. A lot of fish were dying in the water in November and December, so there was a lot of dead fish around and you are kind of wondering what's killing the fish? But then after a few days, you just get on with it," she said.

We were also joined by Brazil-based Irish sportswriter Ewan MacKenna about the challenges facing Rio with the Opening Ceremony exactly a year away.
