Three uncapped players in Irish squad for England and Scotland games

Aberdeen's Adam Rooney, Bournemouth's Harry Arter and Brentford's Alan Judge have been called up to Martin O'Neill's Ireland squad for the friendly against England and the European qualifier against Scotland next month.

There was no space in the squad for Aston Villa's Jack Grealish despite efforts from O'Neill.

Speaking today at a press conference in Dublin where he announced the team, O'Neill stated that Grealish was due to be part of the squad but the under 21 international decided to refuse the request.

Adam Rooney was nominated this season to be the Scottish PFA Player of the Year after an excellent season for Aberdeen. He has scored 27 goals in all competitions for the side.

Harry Arter was called up to the previous squad for the game against Poland but has yet to win a cap. The Bournemouth star may expect to make his debut in the England friendly, when O'Neill may play an experimental side.

Alan Judge has impressed for Brentford playing every game for the side in midfield as they surprisingly made the Championship play offs.
