Tipperary's Conor O'Mahony retires from inter-county hurling

2010 All-Ireland winner with Conor O'Mahony has retired from inter county hurling.

The five time Munster Champion announced this retirement today, and in a statement he thanks all his team mates.  "I will have great memories from my time as a Tipperary player and particularly of 2010 when we won the All Ireland senior hurling championship. I want to thank all the players on the panel in my time. I have made great friendships and have many treasured memories."

O'Mahony won All Star awards with Tipperary in 2008 and 2009 after making his debut in 2005. His two wins came at the centre back and wing back positions.

The Tipperary County Board paid tribute to the 31 year old after O'Mahony announced his decision. "He led by example on and off the pitch and was hugely respected and regarded by his fellow players and management teams. He was instrumental in many of Tipperary’s successes in the last decade and was always to the fore when the pressure was at its peak."
