Tottenham granted permission to play at Wembley

Tottenham Hotspur have been granted permission to play at Wembley Stadium next season as their redevelopment of White Hart Lane continues.

The club are building a brand new 61,000 seater ground adjacent to their current home with construction already well in progress.

Spurs played all their European games at the national stadium this season and have now been granted permission to use the full capacity at Wembley for 27 games next season despite the objection of some locals.

Brent Council approved the club's application by a vote of five to one and Spurs have until the end of March to decide if they will use the ground next season or postpone their move for another year.

Wembley's current regulations meant the club needed the council to vote in favour for the use of the full 90,000 capacity at the national stadium.

Tottenham could yet play at White Hart Lane next year and look to use Wembley for the 2018/19 season with club chairman Daniel Levy previously admitting that they had a few options available to them.
