Transfer Talk

To remove the tedium of the transfer sagas that look destined to happen, but continue to drag on and on, let’s begin (very quickly and very briefly) with stuff we already know.

Angel Di Maria looks close to his move to PSG from Man Utd, with the Argentine absent from the squad that were coincidentally beaten by none other than… PSG!

The figure banded around has been somewhere between £28m and £46m. We’ll keep an eye out to bring you the definitive valuation as soon as we have it.

Elsewhere, it seems as if the Ramos saga is finally at an end. Spanish paper Marca report that Real Madrid have agreed a new five-year contract to keep the defensive stalwart at the club.

Phew, that’s out of the way.

Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell has been subject of some interest from Italian side, Palermo. The Serie A side have reportedly tabled a bid of £3.5m, but the Londoners are holding out for at least double that, a valuation of £7m.

Yesterday, Mario Balotelli was linked with Sampdoria and Liverpool were reportedly happy to get the Italian striker off the books for face value.

With Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero happy to stay at their £7.1m offer, newly promoted Bologna are set to swoop in with a bid of £16m to bolster their chances of staying in the Italian top flight.

Crystal Palace have already made perhaps the signing of the window by taking Yohan Cabaye from PSG and back to the Premier League.

The Eagles are now hoping to do another shrewd piece of business, with Ashley Williams, a £25m prospect. An experienced centre-back is just what Alan Pardew will be looking for to keep the side out of relegation battles come April.

Slaven Bilic has not given up on his attempts to permanently sign Alex Song from Barcelona.

Song spent last summer in London on loan and was one of Sam Allardyce’s top performers during a very good season for the Hammers.

Talk of Ashley Young moving to Tottenham may have been slightly dashed today, with the England winger set to sign a new deal with Manchester United.

Spurs have now switched their attention to Liverpool outcast Rickie Lambert. Pochettino is hoping to link up with the former Southampton striker and may be just the man to replace the outgoing Emmanuel Adebayor to Aston Villa.

Finally today, The Metro are reporting that Man Utd are in the process of completing the move of Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan.

Gaitan is a possible replacement for the outgoing Di Maria and and will likely cost the United £21.5m.
