Alan Quinlan believes Connacht showed signs of naivety in their narrow but entertaining defeat to Grenoble in the European Challenge Cup.
The former Munster and Ireland back-row was also joined by Trevor Hogan on Off The Ball tonight and although there were good points from the 33-32 result, Quinlan says the result itself is the biggest concern for Connacht.
"Connacht have been fantastic all year and they've been a joy to watch," he said.
"The problem is they lost a game they should have won. They were really naive and if you think you can play super rugby across your own goal-line away in the south of France and get away with it - and they very nearly did and probably should have - but the end result is they lose the game. So they invited Grenoble back into the game so many times."
Trevor echoed that point, suggesting that the province should be more focused on their errors than the good points from the performance in France.
"Connacht should have closed that game out. They should have won that game and they should be getting criticised for not winning it, more so than how well they played," he said.
"They have to take the criticism. Some of their exit strategy from the 22 was crazy stuff, absolutely mad."
