The rivalry between New Zealand and Australia ahead of the World Cup final has seen the national airlines of both counties become involved in a friendly wager ahead of the big game.
The communication between Air New Zealand and Qantas began before last weeks semi finals and culminated in them agreeing on a bet after the sides defeated South Africa and Australia respectively.
@FlyAirNZ We're ready! Let's do this #NZLvAUSFinal...

Both airlines are actively involved with their nations rugby teams. Air New Zealand have used some All Blacks player in a recent safety video, while Qantas are the official sponsor of the Wallabies.
The New Zealand airline responded last night with the terms of the wager, but sadly we wont be seeing any painted planes.
.@Qantas So we’ve been thinking about this wager. How about you paint your planes like this? #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS pic.twitter.com/46HhWkVyi7

.@FlyAirNZ While black is slimming, we think it needs a golden touch. Something like this... #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS pic.twitter.com/FxADqwUsdJ
— Qantas (@Qantas) October 29, 2015
@Qantas No thanks - we wouldn’t want to slow our planes down. You know… with all that extra paint. Leave it with us. #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS
— Air New Zealand (@FlyAirNZ) October 29, 2015
.@Qantas OK, how about this? On Monday in the air, your crew wear our jerseys. #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS
— Air New Zealand (@FlyAirNZ) October 30, 2015
.@FlyAirNZ It’s on! But let's not leave the pilots out, yours shall speak our name when the #Qantas @Wallabies win! #AirlineWager #NZLvAUS
— Qantas (@Qantas) October 30, 2015
As if the players needed any more pressure before the game, they could be flying back home with the air crew wearing the oppositions colours.
