VIDEO: When Ricken rocked Juventus

As Borussia Dortmund and Juventus renew hostilities in tonight's Champions League knockout stages, it's been rekindling memories of the 1997 final.

On that occasion a formidable Bianconeri side, in their second final in a row, was defeated by a Dortmund team featuring the likes of recent Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert, captain and 1996 Ballon D'Or winner Matthias Sammer and soon-to-be Liverpool striker Karl-Heinz Reidle.

But it also included the fastest goal by a player in the final's history.

On 67 minutes, Dortmund local boy Lars Ricken took to the Munich Olympiastadion pitch with his side 2-1 up thanks to two Riedle goals. By minute 68, he had collected a pass from former Germany midfielder Andreas Moller and done this:

In all, he scored a mere 16 seconds after being sprung from the bench, forever writing himself into the Dortmund's history by sealing a 3-1 victory in the club's first Champions League decider.

The 38-year-old, who retired in 2007, never played for any other club apart from Dortmund, going on to win the Bundesliga one more time in 2002.

I preview all of this week's Champions League matches - including Juventus v Dortmud -  on the Monday Rewind (53 minutes 40 seconds in):
