Unfortunately on Saturday, there were two major derbies in the Premier League, so I had to forego watching the Madrid derby live.

But as the 'Atletico 4-0 Real' scoreline suggests, it was one worth watching ... especially for the second goal of the game by midfielder Saul Niguez: 

To add insult to injury, a ballboy threw a round object resembling a football at Cristiano Ronaldo's Ballon D'Ors:

 

 

That result means an injury-hit Real are now just one point clear of second-placed Barcelona at the top of the La Liga standings after this humiliation to their next door neighbours.

For their part, a Lionel Messi-inspired Barca beat Athletic Bilbao 5-2 and Luis Suarez was among the goals, scoring twice.

Over in France, reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 with league leaders Lyon. For those unacquainted to Lyon's rise this season, the club have had an average of eight academy players in their team on most match-days, which they deserve plenty of credit for.

Finally, the Netherlands saw the blunder of the week. Goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart is on loan at Go Ahead Eagles from Dutch giants Ajax.

Unfortunately, when both sides met in a league clash with the scores locked at 1-1 with two minutes to go ... he inadvertently handed his parent club the winner:
