WATCH: Conor McGregor tries his hand at comedy in new horse racing commercial

Conor McGregor's 2016 was a year that will live long in the memory.

A two-part epic with Nate Diaz was followed by becoming the first fighter in the UFC to hold belts in two different weight classes at the same time.

He headlined shows in Las Vegas and New York and looks ahead to 2017 as an expectant father.

With Dana White going on record as saying McGregor is not in his plans for the next 10 months, the UFC lightweight has found other ways to keep himself in the spotlight.

The 28-year-old features in one of the most bizarre ads you will see this year, promoting the Pegasus World Cup Invitational on the January 28. In the video, which was released on Wednesday on a multitude of social media platforms, sees McGregor profess to be ready to become the world's best jockey and chase a mouth watering purse.

It remains unclear as to when McGregor will be back in the Octagon this year.
