WATCH: It was selfies galore at the baseball game between the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks

There's no denying that attending a baseball game is a long, drawn out affair that can stretch over several hours.

While it's always god fun to attend a sporting event, if one goes on for that long it's to be expected that you might want to grab a quick look at your phone.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are well aware of that, and so during the fourth inning, they encouraged fans to snap a selfie in their sporting gear and show themselves enjoying the spectacle for a chance to win the Fan of the Game competition...which is of course sponsored by T-Mobile to advertise their data plans.

Given that it was ladies night in the game against the Colorado Rockies, the group of Alpha Chi Omega sorority members from Arizona State University duly obliged.

Although there was only one run int he game, the TV cameras decided to turn their attention from the action on the field to the women in the stands, who were busy snapping a series of selfies.

It gave the commentators plenty to talk about instead of the actual (which the Diamondbacks won 4-3, it should be noted) and even though they had asked fans for selfies, they still seemed to be worried about "the state of the youth of today" when they saw them actually taking the selfies.

As Amanda Hess of Slate points out, however, there's a lesson to be learned from this rather bizarre video on which the offer comment: "Men like to look at young women. Young women like to look at themselves. Men don't like it when young women look at themselves. But they don't dislike it enough to stop looking at them when they're looking at themselves",
