Roger Federer was forced to come from two sets down to beat Marin Cilic in a five-set epic on centre court this afternoon.
The Swiss triumphed 6-7, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 , 6 -3 in today’s quarter-final at Wimbledon and battled back, saving three match points in the process.
"I knew I was in so much trouble in the third and then the fourth, so it was great fun playing against Marin. He's one of the nicest guys on the tour, so I feel sorry for him. But for me the dream continues and I couldn't be happier," Federer said.
He will now meet Milos Raonic in a record-equalling 11th semi-final this Friday.
Raonic booked only his second ever Wimbledon semi-final as by beating surprise package Sam Querrey with a 6-4, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 victory.
Querrey produced the shock of the tournament by dumping out Novak Djokovic in the last round.
"There were some momentum shifts there. I’m glad I was able to get back on the right path after he won the third," Raonic said after the match.

In the days's late match, Andy Murray saw off a spirited Jo-Wilfired Tsonga comeback to beat the Frenchman 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 4-6, 6-1.
Murray was forced to work hard for the opening set after the pair were forced into a tie-break which the Scot duly won.
He then raced to a two-set lead, dropping only one game en route to victory there and it looked to be rather straightforward from that point on.
But Tsonga gathered himself and as the error count dropped on his part, it rose for Murray who coughed up the third set quite feebly.
The momentum switched and Tsonga capitalized on the pressure he was applying, claiming the fourth set, forcing Murray into a decider.
The pair took a few moments break and while the two took water on board, Murray gave himself a stern talking to, clearly diistressed at how he had let the previous two sets slip away from him.
Whether this pep talk had worked or Tsonga had exerted all his energy trying to rescue the game, Murray then cruised to victory in the final set, again only dropping one game along the way.
Tomas Berdych also booked his place in the semi-final of the tournament as he cruised past France's Lucas Pouille.
It took just an hour and 54 minutes as he corrected an early wobble in the opening set to take down beat Pouille and picked up a 7-6 (6-4), 6-3, 6-2.
