Aaron Rodgers has tested positive for COVID-19 after discovering homeopathic treatment was no match for a vaccine.
The Green Bay Packers quarter-back will miss this weekend's meeting with Kansas City Chiefs as a result.
Rodgers' positive test materialised despite telling reporters in August that he'd been "immunised". The 37-year old must now isolate for a period of ten days in accordance with the NFL's COVID-19 protocols.
He'd sought - and was denied - an exemption from the NFL's coronavirus protocols based on his antibody status in the summer.
Rodgers received homeopathic treatment from his personal doctor, leading him to place the request with the NFL players' union. They designated that such treatment does not provide any known protection from infectious diseases, and registered him as unvaccinated as a result.
This summer, @ByRyanWood asked #Packers QB Aaron Rodgers if he was vaccinated and his stance on it.
Rodgers: “Yeah, I’ve been immunized”

The Packers currently sit top of the NFC North with a 7-1-0 record, helped by Rodgers throwing for 17 touchdowns this season. However, 2020 draft pick Jordan Love will start at QB against the Chiefs.
Packers coach Matt LeFleur refused to divulge Rodgers' vaccine status on Wednesday, merely saying, "I said hey, it's a great challenge.
"Nobody is going to feel sorry for us. We all have to prepare to the best of our ability to go down there and get a win, and that's the mindset. They're not going to postpone or cancel the game.
"We have a game to play. It's the next-man-up mentality and that's how we've operated for everybody. I think our guys will rally around Jordan.
"We've got a lot of confidence in him, and what a great opportunity for him to showcase what he can do."
Asked if Rodgers was considered selfish for not getting vaccinated, LeFleur replied, "I think everybody has to make their own personal decision, and that's just is what it is."
