Andy Lee has spoken of his disappointment after the Limerick fighter had his WBO world title defence against Billy Joe Saunders postponed for a second time today.
Lee spoke to Off The Ball about the flu-like symptoms that led to the delaying of this month's Thomond Park fight, which was then moved to October and relocated to Manchester.
While he was disappointment by that move away from his home city, he understands why the fight has been postponed again, having scene the cut suffered by Saunders in training.
"I've actually seen a photo of the cut and it's a pretty bad cut, so it's a genuine injury and it's hugely disappointing for me and for everybody involved and everyone who wanted to see the fight.
Lee believes the fight could possible be dated for early December and a location is unclear for now and is not his decision, although "more than likely it will be in London".
Lee also gave his take on his former international amateur coach Billy Walsh, who has been a key figure in Ireland's massive medal haul at world championships and Olympics, and could depart this country to coach in the USA which could well prompt a crisis in Irish boxing.
"Billy Walsh is an incredible asset to have here. Him along with Zauri Anita, they're the reason they're keeping this conveyer belt of success and they're developing the younger fighters all the way up to senior," he said.
"We're getting results now that we've never got in Ireland, as a small country of just over 4 million can have these results and compete against France and Russia and Germany, these blockbuster nations. We're beating them and coming home with gold medals."
He also described Walsh and Anita as "valuable" and warned that it "won't be long after they're gone that these gold medals dry up."
