Ben Chilwell looking forward to "very exciting" career at Chelsea

Chelsea have completed the signing of Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.

It's believed the 23-year old has cost the London club £50million (€55.8m).

The England international has signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, and becomes their third major signing of a very expensive summer.

Chelsea have already signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig (€58m) and Hakim Ziyech from Ajax (€37.5m).

Chilwell's arrival is unlikely to be Frank Lampard's final acquisition of the summer, with Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva both heavily linked with moves to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

His signing is likely to spell bad news for Marcos Alonso, however, with Chilwell likely to usurp the Spaniard as their first-choice left-back.

"I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club," Chilwell told ChelseaFC.com, "I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season.

"I can’t wait to get started and hopefully it won’t be long before we’re playing in front of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge."

Since making his debut in Leicester's Premier League title-winning season of 2015-16, Chilwell's gone on to make 123 appearances for the club.

He won the first of 11 England caps to date in a 1-0 friendly win over Switzerland in late 2018.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said of Chilwell, "We are very pleased to have completed our third addition to our exciting squad for the coming season.

"Ben brings plenty of top-level experience playing in the Premier League, Champions League and at international level, despite his young age.

"We are confident Ben will adapt very quickly to being a Chelsea player and with the fixture programme for 2020/21 especially busy, he is a fantastic addition to the squad needed to challenge for honours."
