Can sabbaticals lengthen a playing career?

Isa Nacewa's return to Ireland this week was the catalyst for Off the Ball's Saturday Panel. The Fijian star will return to he blue of Leinster next season, two years after retiring from the game.

Ger was joined in studio by former Ireland and Leinster winger Denis Hickie, two time Olympian Colin Griffin and All Ireland winner Daithi Regan this afternoon.

The three guests spoke to Ger about if they wished they took breaks during their career, how players react to returning to squads and if they wished they took time away during their career.

They also spoke to Ger about their fitness regimes after retiring. Daithi spoke about losing weight and how running and cycling has helped him achieve his goals while Dennis told Ger about his love for individual sports, despite not being able to master any of them.

Renowned physiotherapist Ger Hartmann spoke to the Pat Kenny Show earlier this week about runners running incorrectly. Colin spoke to Ger about Hartmann's comments and how athletes of all levels need to condition themselves correctly.
