Daredevil scales Wembley's famous arch

A British freeclimber has become the first person to stand on Wembley Stadium's iconic arch.

James Kingston, who has scaled and hung from the top of some of the world's tallest buildings, balanced 400ft (133m) in the air above the home of English football.

Because of security concerns, it took a team of 30 safety professionals over three months to give the 24-year-old the go-ahead.
The Southampton-based thrill seeker was attached to a wire as he was filmed standing on the famous white arch in west London.
He said his stunt was hindered by the windy conditions, but that it was worth it for the view.

"(It was) an incredible view - one of the best I think I've ever seen," he told Sky News. "Just because England is my homeland and it's rare to get such a view like that in the UK."

He was "completely terrified" of heights four years ago, but has conquered his fear through a "lot of patience and determination".
Asked why he does it, he said: "Because I love it, it's quite simple really.

"I have a huge passion for exploration, and also the physical side of it, like climbing and jumping and stuff. I love it."

In November last year, he climbed Dubai's second-tallest building, The Princess Tower, a 101-storey residential building in the Marina district. He was also detained by authorities in Ukraine after climbing to the top of the Moscow Bridge in Kiev, and performing a back flip.
