Ireland v France: Player Ratings

15 Rob Kearney 8

Took his try well and was solid at the back for Ireland. Carried strongly into contact too.

14 Tommy Bowe 8

Another good performance from the Ulsterman. Chased kicks and carried brilliantly. Unlucky not to score prior to Kearney's try.

13 Keith Earls 7

Will have nightmares about the above but other than that he was solid. Defensively sound in the 13 channel and tackled well.

12 Robbie Hensahw 9

Best game in an Irish jersey and the Connacht youngster was outstanding today. Left Fofana for dead and gave Ireland the field position for Kearney's try.

11 Dave Kearney 7

Another work hungry performance from the younger Kearney. Provided an excellent kick chase but little attacking threat.

10 Johnny Sexton 6.5

Kicked two good penalties to settle Ireland into the game, but went off injured before he could influence the game any further. Doubt for next week.

9 Conor Murray 9

Stood up when Ireland needed him, taking his try well but his passing and box kicking provided the platform for Ireland to build upon.

1 Cian Healy 7

Scrummaged well but wasn't his usual self in the loose. Possibly a game too soon for him but it should stand to him going into next week.

2 Rory Best 9

Another outstanding performance from Ireland's most capped hooker. Excellent defensively while the lineout functioned well, despite one or two mishaps.

3 Mike Ross 8

Anchored the scrum magnificently and put himself about in the loose. Still a key cog in this Irish team.

4 Devin Toner 8.5

Justified his selection ahead of Henderson with an excellent performance in the set-piece and the loose.

5 Paul O'Connell 6.5

Led his team admirably when they were on the backfoot in the first half, before his game and possibly ournament was cruelly brought to an end.

6 Peter O'Mahony 9

Sensational again as he chopped down French players for fun while he halted numerous French attacks with turnovers on the deck.

7 Sean O'Brien 9

Defensive linchpin of the team tonight as he looks back to his best. Carried well but made numerous turnovers and tackles with Ireland under pressure. Could be a big loss for next week if he gets cited.

8 Jamie Heaslip 8

Not as outstanding as his back row comrades, but led his team in the second half. Impressive at ruck time and carried with intensity.

Iain Henderson 9

Superb when he came in for the second half. He was everywhere, stealing lineouts, breaking tackles and this was the highlight of his game.

Ian Madigan 7.5

Was nerveless kicking his first penalty, and performed well under the circumstances. Hesitated a little when Ireland needed direction with the game in the balance.
